Government corruption is inevitable. With how closely government and money have to be related for our society to function properly it is something that is going to happen. Money equals power, and people with money are willing to give up some of it to have a little sway in our government leaders. The only thing we can do is keep our government as least corrupt as possible, which can only be done through limiting the amount of money involved in politics. Things like super PAC's and electing leaders who have already amassed a very large sum of wealth for themselves (further distancing themselves from the majority of the people they are supposed to lead) can only lead to more corruption and unfair distribution of power among certain influential and wealthy groups.
I think that this book is a lot like high school. They're so cliquey. If someone's different they get judged so hard. Everyone is divided into groups and each group hates each other. I would hate to live in this type of society. You would be judged just for being different at all than anyone else.
I liked what the girl has to say. I think a lot of what people don't like about government is how long it takes for something to get done. And now if they include the internet I think that it will help speed things up and keeps people's opinion on government higher
The Obsolete Man shows that we can't trust our closest friends/colleagues. The head of "The State" goes to see the man he just put to death and gets trapped. When the man finally gets released he goes back to resume his position as the head of state but when he walks in the door they call him obsolete and kill him. His closest colleagues just put him to death without thinking about it. This is an example of how you can't really trust anyone
Can we trust everything our government does? Can we even trust our government? If you don't know read up on "Signing Statements". Signing Statements are things our presidents can do whenever they don't want to follow a law. A signing statement is a statement on how distant the American people are from their government. Most of the time we don't even know when our leader signs these things. Most presidents have signed them. Over 800 have been signed. It's really messed up that a person who has so much control over our lives can do such sneaky things behind our back.
